Hepburn Welcomes Local Hero John Burke to Parliament

Jamie Hepburn, SNP MSP for Cumbernauld & Kilsyth, welcomed Condorrat’s John Burke to the Scottish Parliament on 1st July as part of the celebrations to mark the official opening of the Parliament’s fourth session.

Jamie had nominated John as Cumbernauld & Kilsyth’s ‘Local Hero’ to take part in the traditional ‘Riding’ procession down the Royal Mile.  Over 1500 people from across Scotland took part in the occasion, following an address to Parliament by the Queen.

Commenting, Jamie Hepburn MSP said:

“I’m delighted John was able to take part in the events marking the start of the fourth session of Parliament.

“The wonderful summer weather helped add to the sense of occasion.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and they day’s activities reflected many different aspects of life in modern Scotland.

“The Scottish Parliament is open to the public throughout the summer months, and I’m always happy to help people from Cumbernauld and Kilsyth make arrangements for a tour.”
